FAQ

Frequently asked questions about WordPress maintenance

Why is maintenance important?

WordPress requires monitoring, security updates and ongoing maintenance to ensure the the integrity of content and databases. With regular maintenance, I have a better chance of diagnosing any issues that might arise. Unmaintained sites are more prone to fail, causing huge headaches and large costs to troubleshoot, recover and fix.

What happens if an update breaks my website?

In the rare occurrence that a complication arises due to a software update, up to one hour will be provided to troubleshoot/fix. If the issue cannot be fixed within that time, the site will be rolled back to the latest backup and I’ll contact you with recommendations.

How does your support work?

You can submit any support requests to support@jenniferleigh.ca and I will respond within regular business hours. Most simple requests can usually be completed in 1-3 business days. Urgent requests will be completed as soon as possible.

What happens if a plugin on my site is no longer supported?

If you’re an existing plan customer, I will advise you if a plugin on your site is no longer supported or compatible with the latest version of WordPress. I will advise on a course of action to remedy this as depreciated plugins can be a major security risk.

What information do you need?

In order to perform monthly maintenance, I need administrative access to your WordPress admin panel. Access to your hosting panel, FTP, domain name and permission to manage your hosting account will also be required.

How does billing work?

Plans are paid in advance for the following month. Invoices go out on the 15th (or next business day) and are due on the 1st (or next business day). Automatic credit card billing is available.

What payment methods can you accept?

E-transfer or credit cards are accepted. If on an annual plan, you have the option to pay by cheque.

Is email and hosting support included in your plans?

IT support for email management, technology infrastructure, or outside hosting is not included. If your website goes down or has a server-related conflict, I can work with your host to resolve the issue. This will be billed as support hours, depending on your plan. If you require additional IT support, I can recommend an expert.

How do I cancel?

To cancel, simply give 30 days written notice by email.
